Zusammenfassung:eng: This study intends to describe the music-policy of prince-archbishop Colloredo in connection to the mental and cultural principles of enlightenment, especially in the specific catholic variant, for receiving a better understanding of different cultural factors, influencing the musical life in Salzburg at the end of the eighteenth century. Examining the financial problems and the structural deficit of administration with its necessity of reforms, the author asks by investigating the existing musical facts for the conditions of a developed musical life in Salzburg. By treating the church music of important contemporary composers, the study describes the development to the church music of romantism and specifies different intentions responsible for the introduction of German church songs and the consequences of this policy - the new founded public theatre will be discussed as a means of promoting the ideas of enlightenment. Employment contracts show the position and significance of court-musicians in Salzburg. Finally, the representation of the diversity of musical life in Salzburg and its connection to court and church, including the first forming of a civil music-culture, shows the importance of music in the enlightenment of Salzburg and moreover its influence by the policy of prince-archbishop Colloredo.
